Renters Guide to Caring for Your Property Rental - Part 2

Managing your rental property can be a challenging task if you are a first-time renter or even a returning one who is well aware of the everyday maintenance needed. The web is filled to the brim with nightmare tales of property renters attempting do-it-yourself fixes rather than calling property management. Don’t risk legalities or your deposit; instead call your property manager. Below we’ve compiled five introductory tips for caring for your rental property.

Clean machine. Keep your new home clean to help avoid the buildup of bacteria or other unnecessary grim that can come with everyday living. Stop small problems from becoming large ones with prompt action. Address needed repairs as they happen with your REAL Star Property Management team.

Take care. Take reasonable and responsible care of the property you are renting. We know our meticulously screened tenants are fantastic so please take care of your unit as if you own it. It is, after all, the landlord's property and you are paying for the privilege of making it your home.

Moving on. When you decide to move out of your rental property, it must be in the same condition as when you first moved in. Exceptions include normal wear and tear. Do note to contact the appropriate parties to let them know when you are going out of town for a long period of time, otherwise they may think you have decided to abandon the property.

Be kind. Neighbors are just apart of the package deal. Be courteous to others as they share the same rights as you and your unit. Be aware of noise levels or boisterous activity in or around your new home.

Review. You are contractually held liable for any major damage to your property. Always review and abide by all the terms of your lease or rental agreement. Be aware if your property has specific stipulations such as listing a set number of occupants or no pets.

Please note that you lose all your rights as a tenant if you are legally evicted. You can be legally evicted when you do not live up to your responsibilities as a renter, which makes for reviewing your contractual agreement a necessity. Enjoy your new home and be sure to follow up with your REAL Star Property Manager to ensure moving into your new home is a wonderful experience.
